* Have you had educational experiences that you felt were more focused on winning the system than learning? How did you adapt to that system?
-Yes, when I was in grade school it was very much just jump through the linear hoops and you pass. I was always bored in school because there were no interesting challenges to me. Engagement and content is very important for culturing a good learning enviornment.
* If you have a chance to teach programming at Turing or in the future, how would you create a culture focused on learning? What advice would you offer instructors at Turing to help create that focus for you here, beyond what you've already experienced?
-I think the article represents this well when he is talking about giving his students real working examples of programs and have my students manipulate or repair their functionality.
* Do you think there's more value to the idea of so-called "arbitrary" goals and discipline than the author suggests?
-I think we need to reach past these "arbitrary" goals. If we settle for mediocrity we will take a huge step back. We need to always be pushing ourselves forward in new and challenging ways. This is where the true value lies.
