for: Bee Colony Loss.csv, from Data World
This is the "Bee Colony Loss" dataset. It is duplicated from original pulication at Data World (Bee Colony Loss.xlsx). It is statistical data from 1987 - 2017. The data provides information on (by state) the loss of bee colonies (by percent) annually, the number of known colonies, the number of known beekeepers, and the percentage of beekeepers exclusive to the state.
Appropriate questions associated with this dataset include: How does the number of beekeepers in a state relate to the number of bee colonies? Do particular states attract more bee colonies? Do particular states attract more bee keepers? is there a correlation between location (latitude, longitude: based on state) and the annual bee loss? Is there a correlation between the number of beekeepers vs number of bees and the annual loss across states? Are there trends or hot spots with regard to the increase or decline of bee colonies or the annual bee colony loss, by state?
Interesting attributes: The total annual loss is interesting as a percentage of the colonies within the state during a year that were lost. The percentage of colonies exclusive to the state is interesting in that it presumes migration of bees over time.
