Cayenne Candied Bacon

Ingredients

  • 1 lb bacon
  • 0.75 cup dark brown sugar (packed)
  • 0.5c vanilla granulated sugar (see below)
  • 1 tbsp cayenne pepper

Steps

  • Preheat oven to 350°F
    • I sometimes use 375°F- play with the temps to find a range that works well for you!
  • Mix sugar and cayenne pepper. Add the bacon and toss until coated
    • (optional) - If you have a coffee grinder (or high powered blender), grinding the graulated sugar, brown sugar, and cayenne powder into a fine powder can give a different texture to the result
  • Line a baking sheet with tin foil (to aid cleanup and prevent scratches) and place a rack on the sheet
  • Shake off excess sugar and place bacon on the rack
  • Place in oven and cook for 20-25 minutes.
