THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Monday, October 16, 2006.

Jackie Blaine Yoder, 68, of Rowlett, Texas, and formerly of Nevada, died Thursday, Oct. 12, at his home in Texas. Graveside services are pending with Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada.

Jackie Blaine Yoder May 10, 1938-Oct. 13, 2006 Jackie Blaine Yoder, 68, of Rowlett, Texas, and formerly of Nevada, died Friday, Oct. 13, at home. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, in Nevada Municipal Cemetery with Pastor Scott Milsom officiating. Military rites will be held at the cemetery.

Jackie was born May 10, 1938, in Cainsville, Mo., to Earl Henry and Mary Elnore (Longfellow) Yoder. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. While in the service, he received the National Defense Service Medal, Army Aviator Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross, Presidential Unit Citation, Air Medal with 32 Oak Leaf Clusters one awarded for Valor, and 2 O/S Bars.

He married E. Louise Jarrell Jan. 4, 1962, in Mt. Airy, N.C. They moved to Nevada in 1971 and then moved to Texas in 1998. He was employed as a maintenance supervisor. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed gardening, playing the guitar and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife, Eunice Louise Yoder, of Rowlett, Texas; one son, Joseph W. Yoder, of Urbana, Ill.; five daughters, Donna Marie Balmanno, of Sandy, Utah, Deborah Kathleen Shannon, of Madrid, Jacqueline Louise Ligas, of Des Moines, and Mary Cristine Williams and Evelyn Sue Yoder, both of Nevada; two brothers, Alan Yoder, of Story City, and Gary Yoder, of Owatonna, Minn.; two sisters, Donna Sturdevant, of Kansas City, Mo. and Marilyn Apland, of Cambridge; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Bobbie Yoder; and one granddaughter, Candice Williams in 1983.

Memorials may be directed to the American Lung Association.

Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada is in charge of arrangements.

JACKIE BLAINE YODER, 68 formerly of Nevada Iowa died on Friday, October 13, 2006 at his home in Texas. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 18 at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery, Nevada Iowa, with Pastor Scott Milsom officiating. Military rites will be held at the cemetery.

Jackie was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Bobbie Yoder and Elba Edwin, Sisters, Joyce and Joanne. A granddaughter Candice Williams in 1983.

Memorials may be directed to the American Lung Association.

Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada, Iowa, has been entrusted with Jackie's arrangements.
