11/7 6:00-7:00PM (Rekhi Room 214) MongoDB / NodeJS / Express
11/14 6:00-7:00PM (Rekhi Room 214) AngularJS / Build an App
--
MEAN (MongoDB, Express, AngularJS, and NodeJS), is a fullstack javascript framework for rapidly creating modern day web applications. These two talks will cover the basics of each of the components. Enough so you'll at least know what to Google for when you get stuck. At the end we'll also build a sample web application as a fun exercise. No prior experience in these technologies is required, but being familiar with general programming concepts is a plus.
Day1:
- NodeJS
- MongoDB
- Express
Day2:
- AngularJS
- Full Example
Although it's not necessary, I'd highly recommend bringing a laptop and installing MongoDB/(NodeJS/NPM) before attending.
I started programming about 10 years ago on my TI-84 so I could cheat on exams. I used to work at Solar and Heliospheric Research Group doing data and algorithmic analysis, Air Force Research Labs doing security research on highly assured systems, Fog Creek Software as a intern software developer, MongoDB as a Security Intern, and currently a part time security contractor at IncludeSecurity. Soon I'll be a PenTester at Yahoo!.
