Coding Dojo @ RailsConf 2014

These are some of the things people had to say during our retrospective:

Things we did well

  • No one took over the code
  • Good collaboration
  • Good Communication
  • Used MiniTest for the first time
  • Tried out a new text editor
  • Leveraged prior experience to increase complexity
  • Demo before ping/pong was extremely helpful
  • The experienced programmer was ridiculously helpful
  • "Ping-Pong" Pairing
  • Gained Pair Programming experience
  • Ability to compromise
  • Taking small steps helped understand the problem
  • Just enough code to make the test pass

Things that need improvement

  • Overloading tests with responsibility
  • Should have taken smaller steps
  • More time for pairing. 3 minutes is too short.
  • Less talk. Talked more than we should have.
  • Explanation on the Pairing process.
  • Replace 'Ping-Pong' with 'Pilot & Co-Pilot'
