I wanted to touch base with you about an exciting new opportunity for a growing startup who are part of a multi billion turnover company.
I had no choice but feel you were urgently trying to “touch base” with me, and it’s not a good first impression at all. Receiving this email, a linked in invite and a phone call all within about 20 seconds of each other rather crosses the line of “I would like to talk to you” and stumbles blindly into “I will stalk you until you talk to me” territory.
An alternative route for you to have gone would be dropping me an email saying, “Hi, I’m interesting in talking to you with no obligations to see if I can be of use for you. Here’s what I do: … ; and here’s why I think you might be a good fit for some opportunities I have: [this is where you talk about projects on my github profile you’ve reviewed, etc]; Please get in touch if that’s of interest. Thanks”. I might actually have been interested in talking to you at that point, rather than just chalking you down as Yet Another Recunter™ as I’m going to do now.
As it happens, I have a personal blanket rule of “I don’t deal with recruiters” anyway, and folks like you just cement that rule more and more each time you botch introductions like this. Well done *slow clap*.
Please never contact me again.
