I resolved it by:

    cd ~/.oh-my-zsh/
    git add .
    git commit -m "commit message"
    upgrade_oh_my_zsh

I reckon this happened as I added some custom plugins. All went smoothly :)

edit note the dot at the end of step 2 :)
