Vizualization Excersize
Visualization exercise: This is a self-reflective exercise that only requires you to close your eyes and think. We want you to picture your life 2 years in the future as you are working in your new tech field. Take about 5 minutes to really visualize what you want your day to look like at every point, from the time you need to wake up, the type of clothes and commute you want to have, all the way to imagining your ideal work environment. What kind of projects are you working on? What are your team dynamics? There are no “wrong” visualizations, only yours. Please submit your vision in the box below.
For the first part of my visualization, I'd like to think I will be able to afford to live on my own without being paycheck to paycheck. I would like to have enough disposable income to have a savings account and I think a full stack web developer career will help me acheive this. None of my other goals for what I want in two years can be realized without this step being fullfilled. Ideally, I want to be making at least $85,000 a year (adjusting for the cost of living).
In two years I hope to be past the stage of "beginner" web developer. This means I will be self sufficient in my learning and can actually contribute value to the code-base my team is working on. I want to be in a small/medium size company where I will not just be a cog in the machine but a valued team member.
I also love warm weather and have always wanted to move to California. Although the cost of living is high here, there are many jobs in my field and they pay very well. This will also allow me some flexibility in jobs in case it doesn't work out at the first place I start at.
Lastly, I would like to attain my Bachelors Degree that I wasn't able to afford to finish at Indiana University. I'm not concerned with getting an IU degree specifically rather, I just want a Bachelors Degree as soon as possible through any institution since I already have taken many credits. This will help me secure promotions in the future since candidates with college degrees are often looked at as better employees.
