Thanks for that public gist. That was exactly what I was looking for.
This seems to apply it to every link from the external link onwards, regardless of whether they're actually external or not. 01-Scripts solution fixed the problem: https://gist.github.com/01-Scripts/3010527

Font Awesome should be installed preconditionally.
