the betterttv end points are not working anymore, was the api taken down?
The BetterTTV endpoints are alive and well, however the server will redirect the client back to the homepage if it thinks you are a web browser.
they were not working when I was making that post with my app but that was changed again it seems. is there a specific header you have to send with it so it will work always?
I did a little bit more digging, found out that my browser sends a sec-fetch-mode: navigate header. So if you simply don't have that header in the request it should work, you can use something like curl, postman or the REST Client VSCode extension, shown in the bttv-request.http file above to try it out.
is there an endpoint to get emotes from the top page? similar to how https://api.betterttv.net/3/cached/emotes/global pulls from the global emotes on the site

The old api endpoint got discontinued on Nov 1st. Check the docs above for the api endpoints. Twitch, Kick and Youtube I think are supported
