Before I'll agree to a speaking event, I try to do as much research I can around the event to ensure it aligns with my ethos. I want to share this in case it's helpful to any other speakers.

👐 Speaking comes with immense privilege. I am grateful to all the conference organisers who have brilliantly hosted me. I would love to continue to exercise this privilege to speak at conferences, and use this privilege to make the landscape more accessible and beneficial to tech's most marginalised and suppressed communities.

2 tablespoons vegetable shortening or lard
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup yellow cornmeal
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon jalapeno (finely chopped, optional)
2 eggs

1 head garlic (all cloves peeled and trimmed)
1/4 cup fish sauce
1/4 -1/2 cup gochuchang (korean red pepper flakes)

2 cinnamon sticks, broken up
2 teaspoons black peppercorns (optional)
10 whole cloves
6 -10 cardamom pods (mix of green and black personally preferred, but if you only use one, go green)
1 clove star anise
2-3 tbsp black tea (darjeeling)
2 tsp simple syrup, agave nectar, honey, or your preferred sweetener
4 cups almond milk
dash smoked cinammon
