FLOSS Friends Code of Conduct

Last updated: 2017-06-18

FLOSS Friends aims to provide a safe, laid-back environment in which newcomers and experienced geeks alike can discuss programming, free software and tech in general. In order to ensure that this channel remains a welcoming place to all, we've laid out this code of conduct for channel participants. Please read it carefully so that you understand the expectations and culture of the channel.

The golden rules are:

  1. There are no stupid questions!
  2. Be nice!

Please do not:

  • Assume pronouns. Just ask, and use "they" if you aren't sure!
  • Belittle a user for their choice of operating system, text editor, programming language/paradigm, etc.
  • Belittle a user for their level of experience with tech.
  • Belittle a user for their level of experience with english.
  • Attempt to "stir up drama"

The following is prohibited and will result in disciplinary action at the discretion of channel operators/administrators:

  • Discrimination or harassment (including racism, sexism, ableism, hostility towards LGBTQIA+ people, etc.)
  • Evading bans
  • Posting NSFW content without tagging it as such
  • Excessively posting NSFW content
  • Advocation of Nazism, "White Nationalism", the "Alt Right", or any other similar party
  • Xenophobic and/or violent nationalism
  • Disclosing personal or identifying information about a user without their consent
  • Repeatedly asking for personal and/or identifying information about a user

While it's not by any means a rule or a requirement, it's very much appreciated if all users try to stick to metric units and the YYYY-MM-DD format.

All languages are welcome in FLOSSFriends.
