Career Day Screencast Info

For your Career Day presentations, you are required to record a screencast to play in the background of your presentation.

How To:

You can record and edit the video with Quicktime, which should be pre-installed on your computer. To make a new recording, open quick time, and go to File > New Screen Recording.

What it should be:

Your screencast should be roughly coordinated in timing with your talk. During the time that you're introducing yourself and talking about your background, the screencast should show a splash screen with your name and contact info (i.e. github account, email). Around the time when you start talking about your breakable toy, your screencast should shift to a demo/visual walkthrough of the features on your site. For your closing statements, the screencast should return to your original splash screen. (Make this closing screen a good 30 seconds longer than it needs to be for cushion room!)

You can see three examples of past screencasts here.

Due Dates:

5:00pm, Friday 7/17 - First Draft due
5:00pm, Monday 7/20 - Second Draft due
During the week - Update your screencast as frequently as you like
5:00pm, Friday 7/24 - FINAL Draft due From there, if you want to make any further SMALL changes, you can send them in any time before 5:00pm, Sunday 5/26.

How to submit

For the time being, send your video files to me (Christina) over DM on Slack! This is liable to change, so I'll update you when it does :)
