So my generation grew up in the incredulous luxury of the 1990ies
The first I think progressive ideals actually represented the mainstream worldwide in politics
And now as we witness a time of considerably more distress and anxiety in global <del>discourse</del>[consciousness]
We are still very far from the situation in 1980ies
Whereas we as progressives tend to feel minorised or threatened
Our ability to communicate and collaborate on an international scale has never been greater,
thanks to the internet.
Contemporary culture with its disciplines and publics so interconnected makes it ever more *vanzelfsprekend* to think interdisciplinary.

Look who the United States have for a president.
[Though I do not fully commit to his discourse centering around hope.]
Hope is a <del>silly thing</del> [strange emotion] to leverage, for hope seems to suggest that now is bad and the future will be better.
Joy is a term I would prefer, since that’s strictly performative, affermative and now.
