Although you can't see it in speed run mode, in story mode you are given rules to follow, and you die if you break them. Those rules are:
- Level 4 and onwards: Don't touch yellow blocks
- Level 5 and onwards: Don't touch the sides of blocks
- Level 6 and onwards: Don't walk left. The trick is to jump left.
- Level 8 and onwards: Don't touch living things. That means grass, butterflies, vines.
- Level 9 and onwards: Don't check the rules
All rules are removed after escaping through the window in level 10.
Three secret chests.
- In level 6, you can keep going left and fall into a room which contains the first secret.
- In level 7, you can stay on the platform past the door and get warped to another room containing the second secret.
- Past level 11, at the end of the platform ride, you can fall off the screen below the door and land on another door, behind which is the last secret.
