Defer the standard Google Analytics script until the page is idle, in supported browsers.
(function(x,y,z){(x[y]&&x[y](z))||z()})(window,'requestIdleCallback',function(){
(function(i,s,o,g,r,a,m){i['GoogleAnalyticsObject']=r;i[r]=i[r]||function(){
(i[r].q=i[r].q||[]).push(arguments)},i[r].l=1*new Date();a=s.createElement(o),
m=s.getElementsByTagName(o)[0];a.async=1;a.src=g;m.parentNode.insertBefore(a,m)
})(window,document,'script','//www.google-analytics.com/analytics.js','ga');
ga('create', 'UA-XXXXX-X', 'auto');
ga('send', 'pageview');
});

This small snippet wraps the boilerplate Google Analytics snippet with a function that makes use of window.requestIdleCallback to defer its execution until your page has loaded and is idle. This is progressive enhancement, so browsers that don't support requestIdleCallback will just execute it immediately.
