DTR for the Crate Project

Project Expectations (what do we hope to get out of this project?):

Justin: Get a stronger foundational understanding of React and Redux. Also would like to focus on Node. And an idea of how Back-End operates.

Max: See the relationship between FE and BE, stronger understanding of the interactions between them.

Colin: Understand the path of data between FE and BE, and approach the project very professionally (e.g. Gitflow).

Paul: Test the waters with Git Rebase Workflow.

Collin: Specifcally focus on Redux, stronger understanding of the bridge between FE and BE.

Team Strengths:

Justin: 8 years of military experience - good on planning, project management, long-term planning, etc.

Max: Strong understanding of Express.

Colin: Edge-case awareness, complex logic, etc.

Paul: Testing

Collin: Planning and organization, using Github Projects to break down tasks into smaller tasks.

How to Overcome Obstacles:

Planning beforehand, strategizing before coding, breaking down problems, asking for help when needed, constant communication (standups / retros, communication throughout the day).

Schedule Expecations:

Justin: Completely available, late into the evening.

Max: Completely available, moreso in the morning.

Colin: Completely available, late into the evening.

Paul: Week 1 is a bit different, but generally widely available, especially in the morning.

Collin: Stopping around 6:30 with group work but open to individual work later in the evening.

Abilities Expectations (techincal strengths and areas for desired improvement):

Justin: Good understanding of React, decent understanding of Redux. Would like to improve on testing.

Max: Node & Express. Want to improve on GraphQL.

Colin: Good exposure to HTML / JS & generally backend stuff. Would like to improve on database and queries.

Paul: Ruby/Rails, Python, would like to improve on GraphQL and Node/Express.

Collin: Good understanding of React and React Testing, improve on understanding of Redux.

Workload Expectations (what features do we each want to work on?):

Will gradually break apart tasks throughout the two weeks.

Workflow Expectations:

Github / GH Projects.

Highly communicative about what we are each working on, in-depth planning of tasks as they come up.

Standups are a good time to go over daily expecations.

Setting apart some time to show BE/FE how certain things work / operate.

Expectations for Giving and Receiving Feedback:

Give feedback as soon as possible instead of giving it at the end of the project.

Being honest and open and compassionate about giving feedback, and also be direct.
