Letter to Biden about failed UN resolution
Dear President Biden,
I write with deep concern over the U.S. response to the recent crisis in Gaza, where an escalation on October 7th resulted in catastrophic human loss, with 32,000 lives claimed, 40% being children. The prohibition of humanitarian aid exacerbates this tragedy, leading to famine and despair.
The U.S. has vetoed three UN resolutions for an immediate ceasefire, undermining global peace efforts. Your administration's resolution, while suggesting ceasefire importance, stops short of directly advocating for it. This lack of decisive action suggests compliance with ongoing atrocities, diminishing the U.S.'s moral standing.
As an American deeply invested in our nation's fundamental values of justice and human decency, I am disheartened. Your administration's handling of this situation diverges significantly from the equitable foreign policies many voters, including myself, expected.
This letter serves as both a plea and a declaration: without a shift towards a just and accountable foreign policy, particularly in holding Israel responsible for its actions in Gaza, you have forfeited my support. The opportunity to lead with integrity and advocate for humanity is slipping away.
To regain faith from those who envision a more just world, I urge you to reevaluate your stance on the Israel-Palestine conflict. America must champion peace, justice, and accountability on the global stage. Your leadership in this pivotal moment could steer the course of history towards these ideals.
The world, and your electorate, await decisive, compassionate action.
Sincerely,
[Your Name]
