She has previously taken lessons and recently decided to take them again. Good tone but needs to readjust to the violin a gain more dexterity/confidence. For personal reasons she may also need to stop taking lessons for a while, so resources are being shared for independent practice.
- Vibrato basics exercises
- Bow exercise (keep straight looking to the mirror)
- Left hand rithms (quintuplet, sextuplet and septuplet) using part of Miroslav Skorik's Spanish dance
- G Scales
- "The shadow of your smile"
- "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head"
Tends to play with little dynamics and slow tempo but otherwise excels at reading and following instructions.
- Gavotte - JB Lully (Suzuki 2)
Tends to play fast and with little definition sometimes altering the rythm. He plays the piano as well and does seem to practice a lot but often without stopping and fixing issues.
- Gavotte - Jean Becker (Suzuki 3). Not very well defined but can play it.
- Gavotte D Major - Bach
We got to A minor concert - Vivaldi (Suzuki 4) but we have paused it in order to focus on third position.
- G Scale, shifting to third position
- Etude #31 from Sixty Studies - Wohlfahrt
- Vibrato basics
He can play tunes by ear. I tried working with sheet music with him for a good while but was unsuccesful (worked on Suzuki 1). What I do with him is play tunes that he can recognize so he can follow along or ask him for pieces he would like to share with me. He can also be overwhelmed if the piece is unfamiliar or seems too difficult and reject the prospect of playing them.
- All I have for Christmas is you (Mariah Carey)
- Auld Lang Syne (Bobby Daris)
- Glissando as an ornament on the pieces
