Virtual Machine for Labs

Note Your Screen Resolution

  1. Right click on the desktop of your laptop
  2. Choose Personalize > Screen Resolution
  3. Write down the screen resolution or your laptop (which will be the host machine for the VM)

Login

  1. Go to https://accelebrate.learnondemand.net/
  2. Log in with
    • your company email address as the username
    • all with the same password (ask the instructor or look up on the board in the classroom)

Start Virtual Machine

  1. Scroll down past the first button labeled "Introduction to Lab UI".
  2. Click the button at the bottom of the page labeled "Launch"

! Don't foget to scroll down to the second button when logging in to the VM on subscequent days of the class. The first button is just to introduce you to the lab environment and should not be clicked.

Settings

Networks: Network 6 prompt

If asked:

Do you wan to find PCs, devices, and content on this network....?

  • Click the No Button

Taskbar

  1. Right-Click the Windows Taskbar at the bottom of the screen and choose Properties
  2. Set Taskbar location on screen: to Right

Sidebar

You will notice a blue sidebar on the right. You can open and close this sidebar by clicking the:

  • thumbtack icon to close
  • < to open

Screen Resolution

Turn Off Auto-adjust
  1. Open the blue sidebar
  2. Click on the support tab within the sidbar
  3. Uncheck the Auto-adjust screen resolutions button
Set Screen Resolution

Your laptop's (host machine's) screen resolution should = Virtual Machine screen resolution.

To set the screen resolution on the Virtual Machine:

  1. Right Click on the destop of the Virtual machine and choose Screen Resolution
  2. Set the screen resolution to be the same as your laptop's screen resolution (remember you recorded this in the first step of this tutorial).
Full Screen

Set the Virtual Machine to full screen in your browser so the browser's address bar does not get in your way.

  1. Click the Monitor icon on the center upper right of the screen.
  2. Choose Full Screen fom the dropdown

Choose the icon again and choose Exit Full Screen to get out of full screen mode if needed.

Course Files

To access the course files:

  • Double-click the desktop shortcut: AngularCourseComprehensive-7142-Shortcut

Copying & Pasting (from your Laptop)

Note: Copying & Pasting from your Laptop (Host Machine) is possible but is a several step process. It is recommended to instead copy from the snippets folder or the manual that is actually on the Virtual Machine.

  1. Copy somthing to your clipboard on your host machine.
  2. Choose the Lightning Bolt icon
  3. From the dropdown choose Type Text > Type Clipboard Text
  4. Paste the text from your clipboard into the dialog's textbox and click OK

Network Status

You can check the status of your Network Connection via the bars icon on the middle right of your screen. Similar to your mobile phone.

Saving (end of the day)

To properly save your progress in the virtual lab environment:

  1. Click the open door icon with a right arrow in the far upper right corner of the screen.
  2. Choose Save and Close Lab

Your lab will be saved for 7 days. The 7 day clock restarts each time you Save and Close Lab during the week of class.

Note you received an email with a link to a zip with all the files that are available on the Virtual Machine: The email was titled: Setup details for proposed Angular 7 training on March 4-8 at Fannie Mae
