SA post by Oo Koo The game also has dodges if you're playing as a non dagger melee class.

Warriors and sword users have a bunch of dodge, gap closer and/or area clear skills some of which have super armor/invulnerability frames. They're just actives instead of core skills. Look into exodus slash, broad slash, hindsight sweep, full moon slash, dragon's maw and swift castle. The Warriors exodus slash is a great dodge skill, that combines long invulnerability frames with a high stagger/knockdown follow up attack.

Even mystic knights have access to full moon slash which has invulnerability frames during the attack animation and can be launched even while staggered.

And the gap closers also work as dodges in a pinch, every sword using class gets blink strike for free and you start with a swordsman's ring that upgrades it to blitz strike that is stupid fast, has massive range and is generally just one of the best skills in the game. There's basically no attack that you can't dodge by just blitzing in the opposite direction from an enemy at the first sign of a wind up animation. Sky rapture is also really useful as a dodge as long as you're not fighting near cliffs that you could accidentally jump off from.

I guess they can't be spammed infinitely without chowing down on stamina curatives or liquid vim like the dagger core dodge roll, but they all compensate by also doing damage or something else useful. Even swift castle which is arguably weakest of the bunch, basically gives a sword and board assassin access to the dagger dodge roll as an active shield skill with a fairly small stamina consumption.

I suck at the perfect shield blocks, but absolutely love all the perfect dodge skills, since even if you screw up the timing for the bonus counter damage, they usually still allow you to avoid damage through the invulnerability frames or the movement animations. And using full moon slash or dragon's maw to phase through enemy attacks feels amazing and also always does full damage even if you miss the timing, since they're primarily offensive skills instead of counters.
