Information re. June 23-25, 2016 meeting in Edinburgh
2016 theme: Responses to Missions: Appropriations, Revisions, and Rejections


General information

  • Registration is open to all members of the "Missions" email listserv moderated by Yale Divinity School. Membership on the listserv is open to all scholars or postgraduate students with research interests in the history of the missionary movement and world Christianity. Others are welcome by invitation only. Contact Martha Smalley for more information.
  • The conference will take place at New College, University of Edinburgh, situated on Mound Place in the city centre; see Campus Maps for details
  • Registration will be from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 23.
  • The registration fee of £90.00 is payable by debit or credit card on-line at the point of booking (see link below). The conference fee includes 2 lunches, 2 evening meals, teas and coffees.
  • The meeting will begin at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 23 and end midafternoon on Saturday, June 25.
  • If you have questions about the logistics of arriving at New College, please contact Allie Schwaar at allieschwaar@gmail.com or Jean Reynolds at J.Reynolds@ed.ac.uk.
  • Airport buses cost £3.50 single, £6 return, and leave every 10 minutes at peak times; the terminus is at Waverley Bridge, a five-minute walk from New College. A taxi from the airport would be approximately £25.00. If arriving by train, get off at Edinburgh Waverley, NOT Haymarket.

Papers

Please submit paper proposals with brief abstract via email to the Conference Organizer, Allie Schwaar, at allieschwaar@gmail.com by **March 7, 2016 **. Please put your name, the name of your institution, and the title of your proposed paper at the top of the document. Papers should relate in some way to the conference theme: Responses to Missions: Appropriations, Revisions, and Rejections.

Our pattern has been to have each oral presentation limited to 20 minutes, followed by discussion. If your proposal is accepted, you are encouraged to submit your full paper in advance to Martha Smalley at martha.smalley@yale.edu by June 21. Your paper will then be made available on the conference website to all participants. More detailed information regarding submission will be sent to presenters.
