I would like to be employed in one month's time from Graduation. I set the date to December 20th because of Thanksgiving.
I would like to teach myself C# and start to develop a XCOM style game.
Every week I would like to have reached out to a new developer, and I want to apply to a job every week.
I want to redo everything on my Turing Profile. Some student have been offered jobs based on their Profile. I would like that to happen to me.
As well I am working on potenitally starting a company with some back-end devs. I really want to see how we can make that work since it is really a unique circumstance.
I would like to code everyday.
I really want to clean up my github.
I want to complete all my projects to my own standards.
I want to finish my foodGrader App.
I want to attend more meet ups, especially Stapleton Geeks, and Colorado Game Developers.
My biggest reason for not going to more meet ups while I was at turing was due to time and money. I am broke and have been for the last few months. I need a job but I also wanted to try and learn as much as I could at turing while I was still there.
I want to refactor my project as to best optimize them. I tend to write hefty code. I want to get into a habbit of writing code clean and readable the first time round so refactoring will be easier.
I want to write a really nice looking resume. I know I am in a unique situation with the hackathon team starting a company. But I am sure eventually I will need to find a job somewhere else. I would like a good resume. in the past I feel that cold outreach emails and resumes are my weak points.
I want to reach out to more people in the industry. I have already reached out to Adam Marez, he is a family friend who started his own company that was fairly successful. He is currently mentoring myself and my team from the hackathon with our business plan.
Kriss Foss is a mentor who has given me great insight into what start-up life can be like. Intimidating! I do not like the idea of not knowing if the comapny will be around in year.
Zhenghua Yang (Z) is the founder and CEO of Serenity Forge Games in Boulder. I have met with him once, but I will also be meeting with him again next week. I hope that he will mentor me with my curiosity for game development. As well since he has started his own company, and I am in the process of doing something similar, I feel that he is a great mentor in the area.
I am using a google sheets to track who I ahve reached out to and the results of the out reach.
I try and update my linkedin fairly regularly. As a result I have received some attention from recruiters.
I will keep track of my job search with Michael Sagapolutele, and Laura Caroselli. We have talked about teaching ourselves C#. I think that will be a cool way to keep learning while concentrating on our collective interests.
I feel that my self motivation is my biggest barrier. I tend to do work assigned, however when I am left to manage my own time and work, I procrastinate. I would like to manage my time better and stay up on my coding to be more valuable to companies and thus more. Paid.
