We use this "solution" with cloth wipes instead of disposable diaper wipes.
- 1 C water
- 1 T Dr. Bronner's Baby Mild Liquid Soap
- 1 T apricot oil
- 2 drops tea tree oil
- 2 drops lavender oil
- Water: the universal solvent, which helps cleanse and dilute other ingredients
- Dr. Bronner's soap: umm, cleans
- Apricot oil: softens the skin and makes the wiping a bit easier
- Tea tree oil: an essential oil, has antibacterial and antifungal properties
- Lavender oil: another essential oil, smells nice and has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties
We checked out a couple brands of cloth wipes, but these are the ones we use:
- Under the Nile: Egyptian cotton terry cloth
- BabyKick: hemp fleece
If I am remembering chemistry correctly, oil does not dissolve in water without an emulsifier, which this "solution" does not have. I believe this "solution" is technically a mixture, but I prefer calling it a "solution".
This recipe is of my own invention, which I came up with after reading about the ingredients on Wikipedia - use at your own risk.
