#Analyst To enhance the analytical capacity of all our business units, we are building a data and analytics resource within our information technology division. As analyst, you will report directly to our Director of Analytics and be part of a team that includes a Data Scientist and Engineer.

You will lead our analytical service – when a business unit has a question or hypothesis about their work, you will help them define the question and construct a methodology for answering and acting on the results.

Key Duties

  • Develop a workflow to provide analytical services to the company
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and document goals or questions
  • Engage with technical resources to plan measurement or data collection strategy
  • Translate data and technical findings into user friendly reports and presentations
  • Engage with engineer and director to productize or automate most valuable reports

Essential Skills

  • Experience working with Google Analytics, Omniture, or other tools
  • Experience working with executives and other senior managers
  • Deeply analytical mindset
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Passion for news and innovation
  • Development experience is nice-to-have

#Engineer To enhance the analytical capacity of all our business units, we are building a data and analytics resource within our information technology division. As engineer, you will report to our Director of Analytics and be part of a team that includes an Analyst and Data Scientist.

You will lead the productization of our analytics efforts. As we identify reporting needs that can’t be served by out-of-the-box automation tools, you will develop custom solutions that get data out of proprietary systems and into our data warehouse, or into a report designed for a specific business problem.

Key Duties

  • Work with Director to own strategy around analytics collection and tag management
  • Develop dashboards, emails, Slack bots, and other utilities for business units using 3rd-party API
  • Help enhance architecture for data collection across products
  • Lead automated testing strategy for Philly.com analytics
  • Assist product developers with future analytics implementations
  • Support A/B experiments using code

Essential Skills

  • Data manipulation (probably Python)
  • Light frontend development
  • Interest in automated testing
  • Interest in A/B experiments
  • Passion for news and innovation
