DCL DAO x GSS: About Dax

Hi everyone, 

I'm Dax, you've probably seen me in the discord or forum! 

The Grant Support Squad asked me to write up an introduction about myself after asking me to join the <XXXX>, so I hope this
will give you an idea about me and what I'm hoping to help with in the coming months. 

Professional Background

I'm currently a backend developer at a startup and working on side projects such as DCL-metrics, a DAO funded analytics 
platform for Decentraland. Before that I was a teacher for many years and I've also led a variety of Permaculture related 
workshops and conferences so intentional community building is something I'm very interested in!

Decentraland Background

When I first heard about Decentraland in 2017, I was immediately overtaken by just how cool this project could be. There was 
very little hype but a whole lot of wonder among those in the first chat threads about the possible use cases and potentials of 
such a platform. I didn't really pick up the thread again until the world was opened in 2019, participating in the scavenger 
hunt and other early events. I tried to build some simple scenes on my land but the SDK was much less developed and I dropped 
off again until late-2020 when I started learning about the DAO and tried again to build some scenes, this time with a greatly 
improved SDK and much more vibrant developer community. 

The first scene I made is still up - an homage to the late Terence McKenna, whose ideas about virtual reality were the reason I

Since that time I've been immersed in DCL and am active in the discord server nearly everyday. I've built dcl-property.rentals 
and dcl-metrics.com, competed in the 2022 Game Jam with @VeX, and participated deeply in the DAO and many different sub-
communities. I've been lucky enough to meet many of you in person and hope to keep that trend going!

DAO Activity

As someone with a relatively high-level of VP, a vested interest in Decentraland's success and a natural curiosity surrounding 
self-governing communities, I jumped at the opportunity to be active in the DAO. With the possibility to help form the <XXXX>, 
I hope to be part of creating a stronger and better functioning DAO by supporting a sensible community-led judicial process as 
part of the larger grants system.
