Its not obvious why (show-paren-mode 2) instead of (show-paren-mode 1). It's a little bit confusing.
Documentation for show-paren-mode says: "Toggle visualization of matching parens (Show Paren mode).
With a prefix argument ARG, enable Show Paren mode if ARG is positive, and disable it otherwise."
