Until Phase 2, you need to pick a local branch for participation and stick to it. Once you have chosen a branch and travel is allowed between branches, you can't travel to a higher phase branch than your chosen branch.
As of 3/13, Black Diamond, Caer Mear, Isenfir are closed. All other regions are "Phase 0"

- limit of 50 or fewer outdoors. 20 or fewer indoors. traveling outside your branch is allowed, but crossing state lines is discouraged. nobody 17 under allowed.
- limit of 100 or fewer outdoor. 30 or fewer indoors. youths are now allowed.
- unlimited # of outdoor participants. Groups hosting activities will need a waver if it happens before May 31st.
- fully reopened. Groups hosting activities will need a waiver if it happens before May 31st.
Beyond normal equipment, participants should bring the following:
- Sufficent masks for the duration of practice.
- Personal water supply
Remember, until Phase 3 no loaner equipment is available.
- "Social Distancing" sign. Kingdom guidance states: "A sign must be posted at each activity/practice reminding participants to practice social distancing, mask requirements and other steps to prevent the spread of COVID-19."
- Disposable gloves of sufficent quantity for inspections
- Alcohol wipes (NOT BLEACH)
- Paper towels (optional)
- No shared drinks or food are allowed until further notice. (Single serving commercially pre-packaged food and drinks are allowed.)
- Health screening questionare, covid sign-in sheet, and individual waiver signin sheets.
- Inspection of all gear is required before participation. If it's the participants first time back, Fit and finish of masks/helms is important.
- Most participants will need their gear punch tested and drop tested prior to the first use during reopening.
- For each participant:
- Verify the participant has completed the health screening questionnaire and other Covid paperwork for that day. DO NOT PROCEED UNTIL THIS IS COMPLETE.
- Put on a new pair of disposable gloves
- Inspect their armor, helms, and masks.
- If you must drop / punch test their equipment, wipe down the testing equipment with an alchohol wipe after testing.
- Use the aforementioned alchohol wipe, or papertowel if you did not have to test equipment, in the gloved hand for testing their blades for burrs.
- Immediately following the inspection of the participant, discard the gloves.
- Loaner equipment for heavy or rapier activities is not permitted until Phase 3. Loaner equipment must be thoroughly cleaned between uses.
- "Masks are required for all in-person attendance. Masks are required to be worn at all times, indoors and outside, and during all physical activities."
- "All individuals must wear face masks correctly, covering the mouth and nose at all times. Face masks must be worn attached to the individual, not to equipment or clothing."
- If a mask slips or fails in a manner such that a participant’s nose and mouth are no longer covered, marshals shall call a hold and allow the fighter to reposition the mask at a safe distance from other participants
- Failure to adhere to these rules will result in termination of official in-person activities, or other actions by the Kingdom Seneschal or Earl Marshal.
- Post the social distancing sign
- Remind people of:
- No hug/handshake/casual contact.
- No sharing of food/drink/utensils
- No sharing equipment until phase 3
- social distancing (except as required during combat)
- Add in increased opportunties for rest breaks
- Identify disparate locations at the activity site such that single individuals can move away from the activity briefly to recover their breath and hydrate.
- Have a reservation system.
- Ponte Alto uses a Google Form. If you need help, speak up.
- Follow state & local restrictions. If close contact sports are not allowed, no marshal activity may occur.
- Design activities intend to remind people why we love rapier combat.
- Focus on the joy of swords and rebuilding the community.
- Enable people to practice until they drop
- Think "Aedult Swim" rather than "Pennsic Champions"
- Remind people that it's about the joy of swords & friendship
- Regularly change up participants in melees
