- Tape measure
- Bucket
- Salt
- Silicon Conformal Coating or glue gun
- Strong magent
- iron weight
The test bench will consist of 2 setups. One vertical and the other longer and horizontal.
The horizontal setup will be a straight segment of pipe at least 10 meters in length followed by a single bent segment of pipe with a radius of .5m.
The vertical setup will just be a short 1 meter segment of pipe.
- Test case 1
- Check whether it is possible to route bare cable without any sensors through the pipe.
- Cable must be able to slide through a straight segment of pipe at least 10 meters in length followed by a single bent segment of pipe with a radius of .5m
- Record pass/fail and how easy it was to pass the cable through the pipe.
- Test case 2:
- Repeat above test with cable + sensors
- Record pass/fail and how easy it was to pass the cable through the pipe.
- Test case 3:
- Set up a vertical section of pipe (1 meter long) and see if with just gravity alone the cable could slide down the pipe.
- Record pass/fail and how easy it was to pass the cable through the pipe.
- Test case 4:
- Repeat the above tests but the cables tip will have a piece of magnetic iron attached and an external magnet will be used to guide the cable through the pipe
- Record pass/fail and how easy it was to pass the cable through the pipe.
- Test case:
- Might need humidity sensor for this test before pouring conformal coasting materials into the empty spaces
The test bench will consist of a plastic 10L bucket filled with a salt water solution of 5% concentration in accordance to ASTM B895 for testing corrosion resistance of stainless steel.
Observing the changing on the surface of sensor cable
Might need to have a RPi connected to it recording data as a way to monitor if there is any catastrophic failure.
- Test case 1:
- Check the cable material is able to use in salt water without any changing for two weeks.
- Is there any rust spot on cable?
- Check if the sensor still work when connected to the RPi
- Pass/Fail and record any observed physical changes.
