Role

  • How did this position come to be open?
  • What would my immediate priorities be?
  • What is the performance review process like here?
  • What are the most important skills to have to do well in this job?
  • What is the typical career path for someone in this role?
  • What are the biggest challenges that someone in this position would face?
  • Can you show me examples of projects I would be working on?
  • How will my performance be reviewed? how often? what metrics will be used?
  • When and how is feedback given to me as an employee? (one to one, polls)
  • How will I be trained? Will I have a mentor?
  • What are the responsibilities of the job? Will I have to talk directly with the client or the requirements will be provided by someone else?
  • What improvements or changes do you hope that a new candidate will bring to this position?
  • What are the most immediate projects that need to be addressed?
  • Will I have the opportunity to work with any cutting-edge tools, technologies or methods?
  • You seemed to be most interested in my ANGULAR EXPERIENCE, am I right? If I continue in the hiring process, is there anything else you feel I should be prepared?

  • What happens when a person doesn't integrate into a team?
  • How much power do individual teams have when it comes to selecting technologies and methods to use for certain projects?
  • What tool or medium does the team use to communicate with each other?
  • How does the team do to track their progress?
  • Is the work on this team more collaborative or independent?
  • How many people are in this team?
  • Which other teams work most closely with this one?
  • What are the current goals the company is focused on and how does this team support those goals?
  • Can I meet the team that I’d be working with?

The Company Culture

  • How would you describe the corporate culture?
  • What are the company’s values? What characteristics do you look for in employees in order to represent those values?
  • How would a typical day looks like?
  • I’ve read about the company’s founding, can you tell me more about…?
  • Can you tell me about your new products or plans for growth?
  • Where do you see the company in the next five years?
  • Would you mind giving me a tour of where this job would take place so I can get a feel of where I’d be working and who I would be working with?
  • How is work-life balance in the company?
  • Does anyone on the company hang out outside the office?
  • How does the company offer any support for conferences ?
  • Who do you consider your top competitor, and why?
  • Does the company have any traditions that you enjoy or think are interesting to share?
  • What steps do you take to keep employees highly motivated?
  • What are some reasons people like working here?
  • Would you say that management is open to ideas and suggestions?

Opinion Based Questions

If you are interviewed by three or four people in a day, that final person is still going to be unhappy if you say, “sorry, the first three people answered all my questions.” Opinion-based questions are the easy solution!
