Unata camping trip

Trip Deets

  • Leaving: Saturday 3rd Sept morning by 7am
  • Returning: Monday 5th Sept morning from Killarney. You will likely be home by late evening on Monday.
  • Where - Killarney Provincial Park
  • Lake - Camping 2 nights at David's Lake
  • Access points for canoes - Bell Lake access point. Canoes from Killarney Kanoes http://www.killarneykanoes.com/
  • Travel - we have 2 cars going up. Dee's & Ryan's cars.
  • Portage Route - https://www.dropbox.com/s/4z6nc1k9l6wahf4/Killarney_David_Lake_Route.png?dl=0
  • Starting point is Killarney Kanoes where we can park the car
  • Ending is David's Lake. We are booked there for 2 nights. Sites are first come first serve and are not assigned specifically to the booking.
  • The distance for each section is marked on the map.
  • Red markings are the distance for each portage (where we carry our stuff/canoes)

Costs (This is per person)

  • Camping cost $9ish/per day (x3)
  • Canoe cost $18+tax/per day (x3)
  • Food & water purification tablets - roughly at $35-40/per person for the trip. Might be less if I can avoid buying too many MEC food packs.
  • Alcohol
  • Gas cost for the car you are in

Some things to keep in mind:

  • All of your things (tent & sleeping gear included) need to fit in a single pack. You will also be expected to help carry the canoes and some of our shared gear as well (food etc). If you can't decide if you want to bring something, its probably best left at home.

  • If you don't have a tent, talk to someone about sharing if they have space. Most backcountry camping tents can fit 2 people. But it doesn't have a lot of space like regular tents.

  • Mountain Equipment Co-op rents out tents, backpacks, and sleeping bags.

  • If your bag isn't waterproof, consider buying a couple waterproof stuff sacks to ensure your clothes and sleeping bag stay dry.

  • We will be on one site for two nights
