Recovery Seed

HEAT supports the BIP39/BIP44 recovery seed standard.

A recovery seed (aka recovery phrase, backup phrase or word seed) is a list of 12, 18 or 24 words that store all information needed to recover your wallet.

If you have an existing seed from another wallet app or hardware wallet you can choose to Import that seed into HEAT wallet and we will be able to recover all your balances within that seed.

You can also choose to Create a new recovery seed which you must backup immediately after or risk loosing access to your funds.

Pincode

The first time you either Create or Import a recovery seed you are asked to choose a pincode.

This pincode is used to secure the encrypted key storage where we store your key data.

Without this pincode you can no longer access the app.

You will have to clear the app's data storage on your mobile and again Import your recovery seed in that case.

Random Key

Besides BIP39/BIP44 recovery seeds we also support the Import of random keys.

After entering any random private key you are asked for which blockchain this key applies and we will add this key to store as a new wallet.

To access the funds in this key choose its wallet from the main menu.

Observe Address

In case you do not wish to expose your existing recovery seeds or keys you can choose to Import an Observe Only address.

In this case you enter (paste, type or QR scan) any blockchain address from any of the supported blockchains and it will show up as a wallet in the main menu.

You can view this address like you can any other address and receive updates for it.

Sending of funds from an observe only address will be disabled.
