Labor issues, specifically the abuse of "dependent contractors”
Lack of transparency around pay, a willingness to change pay out from under drivers (who have very little recourse)
Spying on people (both the “god mode” thing and the “oh hey let’s leave the location services running”)
From what I’ve read the business isn’t really sustainable, overly dependent on VC debt financing, unable to grow the market sufficiently
Just a general sense that the “sharing economy” exacerbates the trend of growing social inequality, the unequal power of rider over a driver’s long-term livelihood
Uber has come to symbolize all the things that I like the least about our industry, it pains me that companies have tried to imitate your tactics
I’ve been boycotting the app since I was at the JFK airport protests
I’m on team public transit
I don’t mean to be hyperbolic, but I did want to at least explain why I’m not interested. I know you can’t address these things, but hope the feedback might be helpful.
