What is left to get working well on linux desktop?

... but what else are you still left hoping for out of the current linux user experience 2021+ onwards? leave it in the comments section.

  • Pipewire Audio Nirvana
    • Fix audio tools roughness around edges
      • Helvum Patchbay GUI
      • RaySession audio session manager
  • Ability to login and try out Wayland + NVIDIA (with the proper GBM support)
    • On a STABLE distro (ubuntu 21.10)
  • Actually working and complete Wayland environment for working daily use
    • XWayland - complete and not broken X client apps support
    • Fundamental DE features including but not limited to...
      • Elimination of Xorg screen tearing issues
      • Elimination of Xorg Gsync and refresh rate issues
      • Elimination of any other Xorg Multi monitor issues
    • Fully deprecate the need to run Xorg server anymore, (for a single unified login session)
  • Wayland - OBS Nirvana
    • Pipewire audio via Jack
    • Native performant pipewire VIDEO (for example for NVIDIA broadcast and other screen capture)
  • Flatpak audio wine VSTs isolation, repeatable and reliable installs, from flatpak recipe
    • Ableton in WINE, in a flatpak
      • With a good realtime performance (no slowdowns), with wine ASIO driver
      • With connection to, and loading of, other isolated flatpaked VST wine plugins
  • Flatpak built wine games isolation (WINEPAK), repeatable and reliable installs, from flatpak recipe
  • Looking glass VM session capture with good performance etc.
