initial meeting

In order for me to have a good idea of who will be attending the event please #rsvp to @nodekc before each meeting. Our meetings will be held at snow and company (Just off I35 in downtown KC) monthly or bi-weekly depending on interest. If you have a laptop please bring it wireless internet is provided.

The NodeKC user group will be focusing on open source node projects. We'll work collaboratively on projects that the group determines to be interesting and challenging. Our first project, however, has already been determined for sake of a quick start. This project idea will be announced and developed further at the first meetup.

We'll break into two groups and work toward a similar goal on the project after the first meeting. These groups will have a set of user stories to accomplish before the next meetup. At the following meeting we'll review each of the groups code and determine which codebase to merge into the main github branch. We can also selectively choose parts of each of the groups work. Note that these decisions will be a team effort.

The benefit of having two groups work on the same problem is to have varying approaches to developing with node. We hope this format fosters constructive discussion and discovery. However, as with any software development process it is subject to change based on the group dynamic.

We'll maintain progress of our user stories on a Trello board in kanban style. All contributions to the software will be made on github. Deployment will be on Heroku. Accounts at each of these organizations is necessary for participation.

Food will not be provided and you are encouraged to either eat before you come or purchase it from Snow and Company. In the unlikely event that we provide food @nodekc will announce this.

Sounds good. Is this a group announcement? Is there a way to rsvp other than twitter? It makes sense to me, but may not for someone else. I'll fork to make a few minor edits.
