In today's dynamic professional landscape, the journey beyond the senior level requires a mix of soft and technical skills. This talk explores the key competencies essential for your career progression, offering insights into the dynamic interaction between interpersonal and technological expertise to help you excel and thrive beyond the senior level.

Description

Most of us aspire to become better and more relevant at work while progressing into a technical career. Some companies have the defined positions and competencies for the beyond senior level, others don't. These definitions can differ from company to company, but two main aspects will fit in any: soft and technical skills.

This talk will talk about what we have beyond senior positions in the market. I will explain how the current company I'm working for is evolving in its definitions and competencies.

After the main thing: what are the common soft and technical skills necessary for everyone who wants to progress in their career? At Backbase we have the beyond senior Principal and Lead Principal positions for all the engineering areas: backend, frontend, quality, DevOps, product, etc. Even though they deep dive into different technical aspects, some are similar and all soft skills are the same.

Competencies for Knowledge & Application, Complexity & Problem Problem-solving, Collaboration & Interaction, and Supervision along the Focus & Impact, Driving initiatives, and Mentorship principles will be discussed.

The group of soft skills we see and apply also will be discussed as Discipline, Behavioural Characteristics such as listening, accountability, collaboration, and clear and structured communication.
