Smorgasburg: foodie market in various locations between April to November. Go hungry!

Williamsburg and Bushwick:

  • Royal Palms Shuffleboard Club: Great cocktails, fun vibe, and ridiculous shenanigans that resemble sport.
  • Buttermilk Channel: Cobble Hill with beautiful buttermilk fried chicken on waffles
  • Across the road from Butter Milk Channel, you can find Prime Meats, and Rucula
  • Clover Club: Also Cobble Hill for cocktails that even Phoye would endorse.
  • Leyenda: Across the road from Clover Club and down a little this was started by people involved in CC. Fantastic cocktails and great tapas.
  • Butter & Scotch: bar and bakery
  • Pok Pok Thai: Columbia St. ave the wings, They also have Whiskey Soda Lounge
  • Julianna's: pizza, Dumbo
  • Olea: Mediterranean cuisine
  • Emily's pizza, around the corner from Olea
  • Camillo: Italian and negronis, Prospect Lefferts Gardens

Red Hook:

  • Ivan’s Ramen(!!) LES
  • Yuji Ramen (or Okonomi!!) East Williamsburg. Yuji opened up a fish market around the corner, called Osakana, which has quick tasty cheap Japanese style lunches.
  • Ippudo Ramen
  • Setagaya (chain and love their veg ramen)
  • Ganso Ramen

Transport

Use the subway all the time. It's bloody marvellous. Get a weekly metro pass. Pay once and then just swipe the rest of your trip.

Citibike is pretty great for people into cycling around a city too. Racks to park/return them are pretty common, giving you lots of options.

Cabs are good and relatively inexpensive but traffic is hell so they almost always take too long. Learn to love the subway. (even in the gross summer heat)
