Tune Anything!

Source project URL: https://tuneanything.com

Tune Anything was originally intended to create a better violin tuner. But I quickly realized that it would be very difficult to get traffic on a site with a single page. If you are interested in the code for a part of the app not included in this gist, just ask and I'll add!

Code Snippets & Other Things

Audio Context
SEO and Organic Search Traction

Motivation

  1. Pet project
  2. I found myself needing a tuner with none around, so I'd often turn to searching Google.
  3. Provide a "no-ads" experience

Memory Optimization

Source project URL: https://memory.maxlongton.com

I think improving our memory is one of the most important things we can do because it is involved in everything we do as thinking beings. If you are interested in the code for a part of the app not included in this gist, just ask and I'll add!

Code Snippets

SM2 Algorithm

Motivation

I've always found it difficult to cement concepts, trivia, and useful equations into my memory using the memorization techniques society seems to prescribe. Flashcards, the repetition of a word or phrase, pneumonics, just don't seem to do the trick for me. I think this is due to their tedium, slow rate of return, and frankly, ineffectiveness. In lieu of figuratively bashing my head against the wall with these nonstarters, I've decided to research the best methods for memorization and integrate them into an application for training the memory and keeping information readily available for recall.

Food Optimization

Source project URL: https://food.maxlongton.com

I built this application for optimizing the time management and tasks involved with nutrition. As I'm sure you can relate, as a human, keeping yourself nourished is one of the biggest problems we face. If you are interested in the code for a part of the app not included in this gist, just ask and I'll add!

Code Snippets

Converting Cookbook Images to Text

Motivation

Around 2010 I began experimenting with diet, specifically trying to minimize cost and cook time per week, maximize the healthiness of the food, and cook enough food to keep me fed and build muscle. Below you'll find some of the motivating factors for building an application aimed towards optimizing the time management involved with nutrition.
