Dear PEC Bard Members and PEC Staff:
I am disappointed that the PEC has not implemented its 2008 resolutions for energy efficiency and renewable energy. Even privately owned utilities in Texas are now required to do more on efficiency than the PEC is doing. I urge you to implement cost-effective programs that:
* Provide low-interest loans or rebates to homeowners and businesses that improve efficiency in their buildings;
* Meet at least 30% of annual growth in peak energy demand through efficiency programs by 2015;
* Make it easier for PEC members to invest in solar panels on their homes or in community solar arrays.
These programs will put money back in the pockets of the PEC’s members, reduce the need for the PEC to buy expensive energy from fossil-fuel plants, and create jobs in the Central Texas. I look forward to your response.
Sincerely, |
