How to create a template for server-init usage

Install VM

Install a VM like you would install any other VM, use hostnames like "test" or "ubuntu" or "debian" - it's up to you. Select a password of your choice.

Configure VM

You need to allow Password-Authentication as well as "PermitRootLogin password" in the /etc/ssh/sshd_config file so the user is able to login once we cloned the VM.
