Backup Wii U hacking guide

Last update: 8/15/20

This is a very basic guide on hacking the Wii U. It's meant as a backup in case the ones I linked in the pastebin are unavailable. If you're looking for a more exhaustive guide, try this one.

0. Preliminary questions

What can I do with a hacked Wii U?

Running Custom Firmware (CFW) will allow you to do stuff with your Wii U that you wouldn't be able to normally, e.g. play games regardless of region, emulate old games that aren't available on the eShop, dump your Wii U game discs and install them to your hard drive and of course, play games that you did not acquire legally. There's also tons of other kickass homebrew that you can do all kinds of stupid shit with.

Brazilian Title Install Method

This is an alternative to loadiine. In a nutshell, we will be installing any game of your choosing to the Wii U itself. This means that if you have an external USB HDD formatted to the Wii U's file format, then you will be able to install whatever game to that USB drive and run it. Going online with these titles will work.

Disclaimer: /r/WiiUHacks does not condone piracy. In this section I will be presenting tools that access Nintendo's servers to download titles in the desired format for this tutorial. This same method displayed can be used to download content illegally; which we are in no way responsible for your actions regardless of what you chose to do.

IMPORTANT: Blocking updates

Set your console's DNS to 168.235.092.108 (US) and 081.004.127.020 (EU) (use both) to block the console from downloading updates.

Settings > System Settings > Internet > Connect to the Internet > Select your connection > Change settings > DNS (Don't auto-obtain)
