Full Stack Javascript Developer (node.js, react)

Here at Luxury Escapes, our mission is to delight our customers with incredible deals for the world's best holidays.

You'll be joining one of our several small, cross-functional teams. You'll be working across the full stack, though we're also open to someone with more of a backend or frontend focus.

We're small-a agile, so we have daily stand ups, pretty autonomous teams, and devs deploy to prod many times every day. We have a flat, collaborative structure both within and between teams.

Relevant skills:

  • Javascript / Node.js
  • React (our frontend uses react and redux)
  • SQL (we use PostgreSQL)
  • RESTful API design
  • Automated testing and continuous integration
  • Experience with micro-services
  • Good communication skills, and an interest in problem solving

About Us:

It's a strange time for a travel company to be hiring, we know. But, we have some great ideas for coming out bigger and stronger when travel bounces back, and we're building two new teams to help us deliver some very exciting products. We'll tell you lots more on application.

Our cross-functional teams include Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers focused on delivering solutions and solving problems rather than simply completing tickets.

The structure is flat and the process super-lean, focusing on a culture of MVP, iteration, and "build, measure, learn", with continuous improvement at the heart of everything we do.

Our team share in-depth experience from the worlds of Javscript, Ruby, PHP, Python, Java, Lua, Agile, Architecture, CSS, DevOps and Relational Databases. We love learning, and hold regular "tech forums" to learn from peers or discuss the tech issues of the day. We also have some really great devs, so you'll be both well supported and challenged.

As an engineer, you'll be given significant ownership and autonomy - you're not just a cog in a wheel pushing out features.

Right now, we're 100% remote due to COVID, and it's working pretty well. When normal life resumes, we're conveniently located in Sydney a short walk from Wynyard station, close to great lunch spots and cafes. There's also a gym, and a (free) running club in our building, if fitness is your thing. We also have a brand new office in South Melbourne with similar perks. Although we prefer these locations, we would be fine with remote within the Aus/NZ timezone for the right person.

Benefits:

  • 20% Discount on Luxury Holidays and Experiences
  • Yoga Classes and free in-house massage
  • A bonus day of birthday leave
  • Table Tennis
  • Flexible working hours
  • Breakfast, coffee and fruit provided
  • Competitive Salary
  • Friday night drinks and board games
  • Casual dress, nice office, harbour views!

If this role sounds appealing but you don't check every box, apply anyway. We've all learned new tech on the job, and know you can too.
