We are Second Funnel - a small, growing startup making the web more visually interesting and relevant. We believe online advertising currently sucks, but can be made awesome. Or at least less terrible. How? Through visuals that peek curiousity and lead to relevant engaging content (think Pinterest meets marketing).
Our visual marketing platform is used by top brands (Gap, Samsung) and retailers (NewEgg) to engage their audience and find new customers.
Our team is distributed across North America, from Silicon Valley to Waterloo, Ontario.
- You are a cool cat. You own your style and you have fun doing it.
- You think like your user. You empathize with their needs, wants and desires. If they are young, you give them animated gifs. If they are flamboyant, you give them color. If they have ADHD, you get to the point. You want to know what makes them tick, why they click, and how to get them to click on more things... for science.
- You are passionate & curious. We might find you tweaking new CSS3 rules and selectors, designing an interaction mechanism, or discussing design on your Tumblog.
- You love challenges & are tenacious. You get excited about working on new and different projects. When life gives you lemons, you make life rue the day it thought it could give you lemons!
You will be designing and implementing visual interfaces that use the best visual content to turn browsers into shoppers. You will work with directly with many global consumer brands to capture their aesthetic.
Under the hood, you will be designing dynamic Pinterest-style pages, creating digital ads that pull in rich content, & contributing to open-source web design tools. Our front-end is in HTML/CSS/Javascript, supported by Sass, Backbone, Marionette!

- You pick your hours. We want you to set the hours that work best for you. We accommodate all hours, as long as it overlaps with 10:30am to 3:30pm (ET).
- Flexible location. We operate as a virtual team, with team members located throughout North America. It's fun to operate at the Kitchener office, but you can work from anywhere as long as you are online & taking part.
- Workations! A few times a year we bring the team together someplace awesome to work and play. Recent locations include Ontario cottage-country, Lake Tahoe, CA and Santa Cruz, CA.
