AIP Idea: Defining size of the ApeCoin Board

Abstract

This document proposes to clarify and formalize the size of the ApeCoin Board.

Motivation

While AIP-1 makes reference to the ApeCoin board, which helps to administer proposals to the DAO, it contains no specific assertion as to the board's size.

Rationale

In the absence of specificity, ambiguity may cause turmoil at a later DAO vote around board members. Since no such board size is currently defined, it could result in a chaotic process and derail or at least distract the DAO from more important matters. Therefore it's in the ApeCoin Community's best interest to adopt a formal board size.

Steps to Implement

  • Agree on a few options for the proposed board sizes that would be voted on by the DAO
    • I will initially propose 5, 7, 9 as options
      • Note I'm sticking to odd numbers in the event a tie breaker is needed
  • Conduct a Snapshot vote that contains the community proposed board size numbers

Timeline

  • The snapshot vote could take place immediately after this draft has a reasonable consensus around proposed board sizes
  • The board size adjustment would go live during the opening of the voting period for the next board term

Overall Cost

This is negligible, as it would only require a vote and no specific skills, marketing, product, engineering, or otherwise.
