This issue is a special update regarding several announcements that we will be sharing at the HTML5 Dev Conference in San Francisco. If you can't get in and you still want to see the demos, we'll be bringing them to the after parties. As always, if you have any questions, or comments, love mail or even hate mail - feel free to send it my way at steve@famo.us.

Announcements - Here they are in rapid fire format: Pricing - We can now confirm that famo.us will be FREE for developers to develop and deploy as many famo.us apps as you like to any device for as many users as you'd like. No tricks, no complexities... just free. Period.

Will it be open source licensed? We are now in deep conversations about 1) source obfuscated versus 2) source-visible and 3) open source as well as conversations about which version of which license to use. Our internal preference is to find a way to make the core platform open source. But these things are complicated and take time, so we are making sure that we get the licensing correct the first time we do it.

How do we make money? - We make money in two ways 1) we charge licensing fees to hardware vendors (think LG, Samsung, HTC and the like) and 2) we offer enterprise add-on services that cost money (i.e. monitoring and analytics + many others) targeted at large enterprise companies (think big companies that build apps or need interfaces) who use famo.us and want enterprise level services.

Can anyone use the enterprise services? Yes if you'd like, but you don't have to. For example, you can build your own monitoring and analytics if you'd like or use us. The goal is that we want to enable smaller companies to keep costs low or at zero and we want big enterprise companies to have access to services they require run their businesses

Will you allow 3rd party companies to build and sell services that hook into famo.us? Yes.

Will you allow 3rd party developers to build famo.us widgets and templates that hook into famo.us and sell them? Yes.

Do you have some of these big customers already? Yes, but we can't talk about them yet

I heard Param Singh, one the key guys who helped build Macromedia Flash and who was the head of product, joined your company. Is this true? Yes.

I heard one of the producers for Halo joined and I heard the one of the guys who designed the HUD UX for IronMan joined. Is this true? Yes.

I heard famo.us is starting a cult and you have animal sacrifices on Tuesdays? As we have said many times to the lawyers... we cannot comment... besides it's on Thursdays anyway

How many people are signed up for the beta? 27,130 as of this newsletter

How many people are upset that we haven't released to a public beta? 27,127... my father in law signed up three times so that doesn't count

What are you waiting for? We know that it sucks to invest in a new framework, only to have it either go under, or charge some ridiculous backwards pricing model and then you realize you've wasted your time. The main thing is that we know it's a big deal for you to invest yourself in famo.us and we want to make sure if you decide to use famo.us it's something you can commit to for many years. Beyond making sure we are properly capitalized, we've now boiled it down to the following list 1) rock solid documentation 2) a great first touch experience 3) lots of demos and tutorials 4) rock solid 60FPS on all devices 5) a website that explains all the things you can do with famo.us 6) rock solid APIs so senior engineers have maximum flexibility and other APIs that let junior engineers get up and running right away.

Are you demoing the physics engine at the HTML5 Dev Conference? yes. We are demoing physics, controlling DOM on a mobile device at 60FPS in 3D. We will be releasing the stuff we are demoing a little bit later on our website. The slides will be available on slideshare - as always with lots of links to helpful info we have found on the Internet

What is the name of the demo your are giving? Last time we demonstrated the periodic table which we have as one of our "hello world" apps. This time we are demoing our "hello galaxy" app

What is the title of your speech and are you proud of the title? It's called "Physics for DOMies" and yes.

Are there any articles talking about famo.us and the physics engine today? Yes. Anthony Wing Kosner wrote about us last night on Forbes. It's an in depth article. Feel free to check it out.
