- Consider providing some more info about structuring / organizing teams for first timers. ** I feel like our team eventually figured this out, but Friday night was maybe a bit less organized than it could have been.
- Try to make sure each group has at least one person that’s done this before. ** Maybe this was already being done, but our group ended up being 100% first-timers.
- Maybe consider embedding a volunteer with each group. ** And then give the volunteers some training in advance about small group dynamics.
- Maybe consider telling the non-female identified folks in the crowd that this isn’t their space and they should consider hanging back and giving the female-identified ones a chance to speak up and play a part.
- We had one person not show back up for the second day, and a second person bailed out without saying anything, around 10am Saturday, after getting a phone call — consider also spending a minute in the intro to emphasize team commitment and manners and how to withdraw from the event if you need to
- Consider having a slack channel that’s just reposting stuff tweeted to the hashtag and stuff tweeted from the official account
Thanks again to all the volunteers, organizers, Puppet, and Nike for running a super event. I really enjoyed it, and hope I'll be able to return for the next one. 8^)
