Commands for installing Elasticsearch on Centos 6
#install Java JDK
sudo yum install java-1.8.0-openjdk.x86_64
#download signing key
rpm --import https://packages.elastic.co/GPG-KEY-elasticsearch
#create repo file
sudo vi /etc/yum.repos.d/elasticsearch.repo
#paste repo configurations
[elasticsearch-2.x]
name=Elasticsearch repository for 2.x packages
baseurl=https://packages.elastic.co/elasticsearch/2.x/centos
gpgcheck=1
gpgkey=https://packages.elastic.co/GPG-KEY-elasticsearch
enabled=1
#install elasticsearch
sudo yum install elasticsearch
# set elasticsearch to run on boot
sudo chkconfig --add elasticsearch
sudo chkconfig elasticsearch on
# lookup list
sudo chkconfig --list
# open port 9200 (for http) and 9300 (for tcp)
sudo iptables -L -n
iptables -A INPUT -p tcp -m tcp --dport 9200 -j ACCEPT
iptables -A INPUT -p tcp -m tcp --dport 9300 -j ACCEPT
service iptables save
# restart server
service elasticsearch restart
