I need a new phone

I got paid to do this

Ecosystem

Apple iOS as a platform and what it offers vs. Android. Now lets throw Microsoft into the mix.
Basically this is the experience that you buy into

Category Apple Google Microsoft
Development Easier to develop for. (Swift/Obj-C is not as verbose) Heh Java C# ("better Java"), smaller ecosystem as it's been limited to Windows. Visual Studio is a well regarded IDE.
App Game Better apps (usually) More apps. Numbers game. What are apps? (No Snapchat, last platform to get apps if it even gets them, then those apps don't get updated.)
App Game Part 2 Usually the flagship platform for new companies/apps Eventually they'll make an Android app, right? ;_;
Design Language Idk... Material Design looks beautiful Metro! No wait Modern Apps! Actually Microsoft Design Language! Ehhh...
Updates Quick & Easy updates (unless you're jailbroken) Updates are named after candies. If rooted/unlocked, updating is a process If you have a Nokia device it's usually OK (and even then you can get fucked). Otherwise it's just broken promises.
Customization Usually consistent experience across the OS, so less fragmentation Stock Android is pretty great, but ROMs & OEMs all have their own little tweaks. Consistent experience similar to iOS
Popularity "Oh woow...you have an iPhone now?" "Uhhh...What phone is this?" "Does it get blue screens?"
Ecosystem Who the fuck uses Apple Maps Google Contacts, Mail, Calendar, Browser etc all well integrated into the OS Office, Outlook (rebranded Hotmail)...and that's about it. (And if you want Google services, get fucked because Google hates Windows Phone)
Compatibility Everything that's made to work on an iPhone will work on an iPhone Everything that's made to work on Android will work on the following devices: not yours Everything that's made to work on a Windows Phone will work on a Windows Phone (unless you have a 512 MB RAM device)
Personal Assistant Proactive Siri? Now on Tap looks cool.af Cortana, better than Siri, powered by Bing so it still sucks (compared to Google)
Rooting Jailbreaking changes how you use an iPhone So does rooting/eXposed/custom ROMs Not a thing (probably because nobody has tried because nobody cares)
Rooting Part 2 Jailbreaking takes a while So does rooting/eXposed/custom ROMs Still not a thing
Purchasing Apps I have to start actually paying for apps I have $18 in google play credits. Also APKs are a thing If there were apps you would need to pay for them
Music iTunes no iTunes Groove???

Quality

This is more-so a comparison of iPhone 6S hardware & software vs. Nexus 5X/6P (predicted) hardware/software vs. Lumia 950/950 XL

Category iPhone Android Windows Mobile
Camera Best phone camera drops mic Inconsistent experience with camera. Sometimes good, often terrible, usually average We had a good camera, 2 years ago...No idea how good the new device camera's will be
Hardware Niceness factor is guaranteed Nexus 6P looks nice, 5X looks weird, but could get used to it Pretty much everyone on /r/windowsphone hates it (but they are still going to buy it)
Biometrics Fingerprint sensor that works well At least there's a fingerprint sensor Iris scanner (Windows Hello)
Notifications Apple cannot figure out how to do notifications Notifications works exactly as you'd expect them to You can reply to messages in the notification center now...I guess that's pretty cool.
Battery Life Battery life usually ok at first but progressively gets terrible Battery life usually decent at first but progressively gets terrible Good battery life throughout the life of the device (still some degredation)
Removable battery Yo, do you have a Fosmon 5-Point Pentalobe TorX Screwdriver? You can replace the battery fairly easily Should have replaceable back covers which means you can take out the battery
iFixit Score Generally shitty repairability Not-as-shitty-but-probably-still-shitty repairability Probably as shitty as Android
Charging Have to start using lightning charger Have to start using USB-C charger USB-C
