- Create an OSM Account
- Log on to OSM with new account
- www.openstreetmap.org
- Navigate the OSM interface to familiarize yourself
- Open OSM Tasking Manager (TM)
- http://tasks.hotosm.org/
- On the main page click on ‘All Jobs’, and search for open tasks in your area of interest
- Zoom in, Choose a tile, split if area if too large
- Launch an editing session using iD Editor
- iD Editor in OSM
- Stay within the pink box with your edits
- Save your edits after each piece of infrastructure to avoid mapping conflicts
- Tag every piece of infrastructure
- Add the following hashtags to the commit message: #osmgeoweek #MapPHL #OSMph
- Mark as complete in OSM Tasking Manager (TM)
- When tile is complete, mark as done in TM (and not before)
- If you wish to return to cell, take a screenshot to remind you of the location in TM
If, for any reason, you are unable to complete a task, click on unlock to release the task to others, but do not mark the task as done
- Keep track of your work with Overpass Turbo
- http://overpass-turbo.eu/
- Zoom to the area you’ve been editing
- Use the Wizard to search for your OSM username (user:osmname)
The number of points, lines and polygons you’ve created will be in the bottom right corner.
